Adoptable Dog of the Week

A new installment of our weekly feature – promoting adoptable rescue dogs and the people who help them!

This week’s Adoptable Rescue dog is Sierra!

Meet Sierra! On Thanksgiving morning, this beautiful lady was rescued in a canyon near the San Bernardino mountains, looking for scraps to eat. As a survivor, Sierra and her rescuer had plenty to be thankful for.

Sierra is mellow, sweet and gentle. She loves her dogs, especially little ones, with proper introductions. We don’t know her history, but we know that she is a bit shy in the beginning. Once she gets to know you, she is ALL love and wants to just hang around.

To submit an application to adopt Sierra, please visit Paws of LA.

Adoptable Dog of the Week

A new installment of our weekly feature – promoting adoptable rescue dogs and the people who help them!

This week’s Adoptable Rescue dog is Carlos Santana!

Once upon a time, Santana had a dad who loved & cared for him. Unfortunately, his father became ill & was taken to the hospital. Before doing so, he asked this friend to care for his sweet boy until he got out. Sadly, things didn’t turn out the way we’d want & when this boy’s temporary guardian called the family to see about returning him, he was told they did not want him.

His new guardian relinquished him over to us & we named him Santana; Carlos Santana. Carlos which means man & Santana, saint-like. And that he is: a little saint-like man.

Although loved, this little saint hadn’t seen vet in 10 years. So after an evaluation & blood work, it was determined that he could handle the first order of business: getting neutered. While he was under, he also had some infected teeth extracted. He’ll be getting updated on his vaccinations & is now chipped. But one thing will remain untouched: his sweet disposition & personality!

Santana loves long strolls, but also long cuddle sessions! He’s a tiny tiny boy who has a long life ahead of him. Is that with you?

Age: Approximately 10 years
Weight: 6 lbs
House-Trained: Yes
Breed: Chi Mix
Health: Up to date on Vaccinations, Microchipped & Neutered
Good in a home with: Other dogs & children. (Has not been cat tested)

To submit an application to adopt Carlos Santana, please visit Paws of LA.

Adoptable Dog of the Week

A new installment of our weekly feature – promoting adoptable rescue dogs and the people who help them!

This week’s Adoptable Rescue dog is Bonny!

Bonny is an 9 year old German Shepherd. She keeps impressing us with how quickly she learns commands.

She is unbelievably smart and learned “sit” in about 15 minutes! She LOVES people, and gets attached to her human rather quickly.

Bonny is house trained and very well behaved – a curious girl that is always exploring. She takes a little while to warm up to other dogs, and we do not know how she is yet with cats.

Bonny was in a loving home but her owner recently passed away. Bonny is heartbroken and looking for a forever home to show her that love she so desperately wants.

If you’re interested in adopting Bonny, please contact Pacific Pups Rescue.

Adoptable Dog of the Week

A new installment of our weekly feature – promoting adoptable rescue dogs and the people who help them!

This week’s adoptable rescue dog is Lucas!

Hello there! My name is Lucas and I am 10 years old. Although I am older than other pups, my sight is still great, I still mostly have my hearing, and I’ll still love excitedly running to greet you when I see you! I am a sweet boy who loves the attention and reassurance from my person!

I can be very playful and enjoy meeting other hoomans and dogs, but I’m more of a siesta than fiesta type-of-pup. My past times include belly rubs and giving kisses because I’m so happy to be with my favorite hooman(s). If you want to bring me along with you on a car adventure to mom’s house, the park, or my favorite – PET SMART, I don’t mind hopping in as long as you cheer me on a bit. I also like going to the office with my hooman! I love to go on long walks, and enjoy multiple walks a day. After a day of fun when you’re ready to sleep, trust me I am too; I can sleep “all night long” (thanks for the line Lionel Richie)! I like to snuggle in bed with you. I am good with most other dogs, though I don’t like dog parks where there is too much going on. I do have food aggression around other pups, but not around people.

I am house trained and I love baths! I get excited and happily run around like a puppy after my bath. I need a home with a yard and preferably a doggy door. I love to be outside and get anxiety if I am stuck inside for too long. I hope you have a home and heart for me to enjoy the remaining years of what has been and will still be amazing!

Adoptable Dog of the Week

A new installment of our weekly feature – promoting adoptable rescue dogs and the people who help them!

This week’s adoptable rescue dog is Cali!

You may recognize Cali from her Hallmark Channel appearance on Home & Family! This 9 year old star is 15 lbs and just loves her people.

She loves being around you, to be pet, and to just hang out with you! She will be playful if you start to play with her, or calm if you want to have a mellow day. She has a medium energy level. She is house trained and knows how to sit & give paw! She is a quick learner and is very treat motivated.

She has lived with other dogs in the past and does not have any dog aggression, but gets growly at other dogs if they get too close to her – she would prefer to be the only dog in the home and get all of the attention!
Cali has an enlarged heart and mid grade heart murmur, but she doesn’t need any medication and lives a perfectly normal life. She also has one eye, which makes her that much cuter.
Cali is good with all people and kids and likes to ride in the car.

If you’re interested in meeting or adopting Cali, please contact Pacific Pups Rescue at info@pacificpupsrescue.com.

Adoptable Dog of the Week

Oliver The Doberman Smiling

A new installment of our weekly feature – promoting adoptable rescue dogs and the people who help them!

This week’s adoptable rescue dog is Oliver!

Oliver The Doberman Pinscher
Oliver is a Handsome boy!

Oliver is a tall, dark, and handsome 7 year old Doberman Pinscher. He is extremely affectionate and playful.

Oliver Smiling

Because he spent his whole life in a crate, his back legs were really weak when he was rescued, but he has come a long way in a short period of time.

The sky’s the limit for this guy. He’s making the most of his life now that he’s free by stocking up on head pets and basking in the sun. If you’re lucky, you may even see him adorably gallop around like a horse.

5 Most Popular Dog Breeds [June 2019]

Little Chihuahua dog running

Welcome to Huan Labs, our new monthly blog about all things Huan, technology, and our community.

Huan has a growing community made up of hundreds of dogs of all breeds, shapes and sizes.

Huan is on track to cover most of LA!

As more and more people protect their pets by joining Huan, we’re learning some surprising facts about pet ownership, canine (and human) behavior, and yes, the subject of today’s post: Which breeds are the most (or least) popular.

DISCLAIMER: This is in no way a scientific survey. Some owners leave their dogs’ breed out, while others accidentally select the wrong one. Some dogs might be flat out lying about their own breed. We have no way of knowing.

And so, Here are the 5 most popular dog breeds, according to the Huan community:

Breed #5: German Shepherd

German Shepherds are one of the most popular breeds today! They are working dogs developed originally for herding sheep. Since that time however, because of their strength, intelligence, trainability, and obedience, German Shepherds around the world are often the preferred breed for many types of work, including disability assistance, search-and-rescue, police and military roles, and acting.

Breed #4: Labrador Retriever

The Labrador is one of the most popular breeds of dog in Canada, the United Kingdom and the United States.

A favourite disability assistance breed in many countries, Labradors are frequently trained to aid the blind, those who have autism, to act as a therapy dog, or to perform screening and detection work for law enforcement and other official agencies.

Breed #3: Pit bull

Bosco the Handsome Pitbull
Bosco the Handsome Pitbull

Pit bull is the common name for a type of dog descended from bulldogs and terriers. The pit bull type is particularly ambiguous as it encompasses a range of pedigree breeds, informal types and appearances that cannot be reliably identified. Formal breeds often considered to be of the pit bull type include the American Pit Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, American Bully, and Staffordshire Bull Terrier.

Breed #2: Chihuahua

Chihuahuas are the smallest breed recognized by some kennel clubs.

The Chihuahua’s history is convoluted, and many theories surround the origin of the breed. Both folklore and archaeological finds show that the breed has origins in Mexico. The most common theory is that Chihuahua are descended from the Techichi, a companion dog favored by the Toltec civilization in Mexico.

Breed #1: Mixed Breed Dogs!

Ghost is part German Shepherd, Husky and Jindo.

We don’t know where they came from – and we don’t care! They’re our best friends and loyal companions. Mixed breed dogs are healthier, less susceptible to genetic health problems associated with breeding, and as evident by the overwhelming majority within the Huan community, very much liked by all humans.

In fact, we at Huan have three mixed-breed dogs on our executive team!

Adoptable Dog of the Week

A new installment of our weekly feature – promoting adoptable rescue dogs and the people who help them!

This week’s adoptable rescue dog is Ava!

Ava is a beautiful and loyal 3 year old German Shepherd cuddle bug. She is whip smart and very happy and active. Swimming is one of her favorite past times. Ava gets along well with other dogs, big and small, and enjoys running around in her cart.

Rescuers brought her to Two Hands Four Paws months after they had found her badly injured. Because they had waited so long, the damage wasn’t entirely reversible. She doesn’t let that stop her from having fun and getting around in and out of her cart as you can see in the pictures.

Reach out to set up a meeting! She’ll steal your heart like she has ours.

To adopt Ava or get more information, contact Leslie at leslie@twohandsfourpaws.com.

Adoptable Dog of the Week

A new installment of our weekly feature – promoting adoptable rescue dogs and the people who help them!

This week’s Adoptable Dog is Bosco, a fun-loving single guy looking for love! This hunk is a big fan of children, other dogs, long walks, puppacinos and Netflix. He isn’t a fan of felines so a home without one would be ideal.

Bosco is a ridiculously handsome svelte 55 lbs of pure love and each morning when you wake, each evening when you return home, each time you leave the room for approximately five minutes, you’ll be greeted with the most impressive, heartwarming and soul-crushing wiggle butt you’ve ever seen.

Boski (as he is affectionately nick-named) is incredibly smart and extremely sensitive so he needs a family who will keep him balanced with firm boundaries and strong leadership. He’s had professional training so he can be his very best self.

Boski has the best personality… he wants nothing more than to give love and be loved. He is so eager to please his humans so teaching him rules and boundaries is a breeze. He is funny, energetic and LOVES snuggle time. He is the TOTAL PACKAGE… the best of all things wrapped up in beautiful, iridescent fur.

Your new best friend is ready to meet you. Come meet him! You won’t be disappointed!!
